Sanon Restaurant was closed to the public for a few hours on the afternoon of Christmas Day as the team of students and staff catered for a private function. Ballooning families wanted a very British luncheon and were thrilled with the five course menu.

Laughter reverberated throughout the restaurant this afternoon as Sanon students spent a pleasant couple of hours interacting with Australian students who are travelling in Myanmar with World Challenge. 

Sonia Muir has taken over from Ann Le Marseny as a teacher and educational consultant. Sonia has a background in leadership, capacity building and teaching. Her most recent role was managing a Business & Social Resilience program within the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (Australia) which focused on working across rural communities developing projects targeted at rural women, farming families and younger people interested in agriculture. She has also worked in the community education sector and high schools. 

Ann was contracted to Sanon via Australian Volunteers International in mid 2017. Ann had Masters Degree in Early Learning and considerable experience in the education sector including 12 years in various overseas posts.

During her time with Sanon Ann conducted english language lessons for Sanon’s students along with Margaret a local english language teacher. Ann also developed a ‘bespoke’ english language curriculum that was focused on the hospitality environment and was uniquely targeted to the needs of Sanon and its students. 

On the 20th of November 2018, Sanon held its second graduation ceremony for students who had completed Sanon’s training program.

24 students graduated and attended the ceremony where their received their graduation certificate of achievement.

Sanon Training Restaurant warmly welcomes the new group of 2018/19 students. The new students come from the Mandalay region, Chin state and Shan state.
